Why We Have to be Rich
Hamka narrated :"Islam won't standing, and won't be completely standing if there is no struggle (jihad), and jihad, need big money, jihad by preacing alone, is only rhetoric. it is a need for rich Muslims because with that wealth they can upgrade their virtue, generosity, pride, culture, religion and development".
even Rasulullah said that 9/10 wealth is from business. he himself made a businessman, and sabahah also involved in trading. his beloved wife, Khadijah was a great businesswoman who dedicated her wealth for the development of Islam.
Islam taugh us to live in qanaah but not to be poor. and being wealth is not to live extravagantly. even Rasulullah lived like a pauper even if he owned his own business.
we should know how to distinguish between being rich and living rich. some of us avoid to being rich for not living rich. being rich is compulsory, living rich is optional. if all Muslims live with a little money, what'll be happen? will we spread Islam in this money-demanded world? we are taught be share, and this wealth is all about sharing. for how long we have to see other nations build high rise building, while we are still in confusing state to choose our soulmate?
Islam taugh us beautifully, as what Rasulullah did, before he built an Islamic country, he developed hearts of Muslims. he did not build an Islamic nation before fortifying those people with akidah & iman. he counted everything as bestowed by Allah. but what i can see in this latest generation of Islam, we are eager to pursue political power. we shrink our mind into jumud and abandoned. we afraid to take the challenge. we fail to understand the true meaning of duniawi and ukhrawi. we are egois and unconciously using BS standard (budus sumbung). we think that we are right because we have nawaitu & jihad.
we have to be rich to seize back what had been taken way from us, that is knowledge domination. but still, we are confused between duniawi knowledge and ukhrawi knowledge. our jumud minds drive us to discriminate secular education and non-secular education. i was a sekolah kebangsaan, sekolah menengah kebangsaan, sekolah menengah sains and universiti teknologi stud. is it made me a secular person? what secular education teaches us? and how about those sekolah agama students who play truant, stealing, fighting? is it what non-secular school educates? we judge from our naive minds, our empty mind, no-knowledge mind, not analytical mind, etc.
Islam is the most complete system. but most Muslims make it lack. we are reluctant to learn. what we give most attention is to be a good wife, a good mom, etc. while other nations brainstorming to create a new technology, we are brainstorming to choose our soulmates.
we have to be rich, in all aspect. knowledge, emotion, spirit, money, virtue, etc. retreat to the real Islam principle, that will come only with an open mind and high spirited individuals.
