Mari Menimba

one of countrykids' experience doesn't touched by most citykids is catching fish in paddyfield, by hands. in this harvest season, the 'taliair' is dried for the purpose of harvesting. a filled-up-with-water 'taliair' is just like puddles of the mud.

my dad asked us to take this opportunity, catching water in the taliair in front of our house. we started at 9.30 a.m. this morning. it was hot and it was just my dad, mom, my bro & i. i was in the waist-level soft clay. once you are in that position, you have to use 15% of your energy to move your feet. the most tiring part must be during 'menimba'. we made a 'tambak' to separate the fish catching area and fish free area. we have to make the fish catching area dries. an hour later, when we saw fish fins and fish tails everywhere, we started to feel excited. lots of keli, haruan, baung, sepat, puyu, prawns, etc. made us feel crazy and i was thinking of being a nelayan rather than an engineer. but i did not catch any, but sepats because i am soooo geli even to touch haruan or keli.

when i was conveying mud from the middle of the pond to the 'tambak', suddenly i felt like something was cutting my fingers. i raised my submerged hand up, and it was blood streaming from my fingers. i didn't feel any pain but since the blood kept on coming, my dad asked me to go out of the pond and put antiseptic onto my wound. i thought it was just scratch but actually a small part of my skin was cut out. no wonder so much blood oozing.

i can't use my fingers to eat. wooo!
