in MANHAJ HIDUP MUSLIM, Al-SYAHID SAYYID QUTB & ABU AL A'LA AL MAUDUDI discuss an interesting topic, our attitude towards al-Quran. i just pick what they wrote and type here in own words.
we are the most lucky people for having the holy Book that is protected and pure, bestowed on our beloved Prophet PBUH. but we are also the world's most hapless people, because even if we have the divine revelation but we don't get the benefit and boon from the Holy Quran. why? continue reading...
the Kitab was bestowed by Allah for us to be read, understood and performed. it is undeniably perfect, just imagine how the book exists in year 1400 is still applicable in this year of 2005, all over the world. but here, the book we used when we were 7 years old is no more used by our 7 year old brother of the same school. amazing rite!
Al-Quran is the greatest thing, but only if we follow the clue it carries ;> but now, the application of al-Quran is just to be kept in houses to chase ghosts and bad spirits. it's true rite? we just memorize the sentences of al-Quran for the purpose to get refuge [of ghosts] and ... for the exam :P we never care about what al-Quran says. we rather believe in chained e-mail than al-Quran.
according to Sayyid Qutb, what we are doing is no more than moron thing and should be laughed on [erk, is that bad?]. how dare him huh... but he's very right. he made some good analogies.
if somebody gets a clarification letter from doctor telling that he is sick and the doctor told him what he has to do. if he wrap the letter and hang it to our neck, or soak it in water and drink it, what would we say? didn't he is moron or something? but now, we are doing the same thing on the greatest clarification letter from the Greatest Doctor, and nobody laugh. nobody tries to understand that the letter is not to be hung, or to be soaked in water but to be used in the way told in the letter.
if you see a sickperson opens a medication book assuming by reading it he could recover, what would we say about him? should we send him to mental hospital? but then, do we aware that we are doing the same thing for the Book sent by the Greatest Doctor?
we are happy reading letter or e-mail from our love ones, can't wait to read the next paragraphs, and can't hardly wait for the next letter/e-mail to comes! but, when reading the letter from Allah... isk isk isk. so sad to say. [i have to put it in my schedule to ensure i'll always be reminded :P]
we use thick dictionaries when reading books that is not using our native language, but we don't use anything when reading al-Quran. erm, maybe use the translation version sometimes. but, do we give a small glance on the roman alphabets at the right side of the page? [i used to learn arabic, but it was 10 years ago, and... 2009 lost memories]
it's a sad thing to ponder. even, it's sadder than tsunami tragedy.
